Day Trip to Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan

Have you heard of Dona Remedios Trinidad or "DRT" in Bulacan?

The first I heard of this place was from my cousin, who often visits the area. The municipality occupies most of the land area in the province, surrounded by mountain and streams. It is slowly being developed as a tourist destination where one can do picnics and hike in one of the waterfalls in the area.

I visited DRT last May 1st with my cousins and I was surprised on the way there. The roads are paved and the scenery was absolutely stunning with fresh air. You will indeed feel close to nature. We went on a picnic as Digo's Hills. There were available tables for free, while those with a good view comes with a fee. We brought our own food, but there are a few stores there where you can buy. We tried their Beef Pares, which is so good and Halo-Halo. I am pretty sure Digo's Hills is crowded on weekends. There are small cottages that you can also rent or stay overnight. However, mobile phone signal is poor to no service. Oh by the way, when visiting Digo's Hills, try their pineapple. It's very sweet. We bought 3 big ones for PhP 60 each.

After having lunch at Digo's Hills, we went to for a hike to Verdivia Falls. The hike was about 45 mins each way, mostly flat. Be prepared to get your feet wet as you need to cross a river several times. I think this is the easiest waterfalls to reach among those in DRT as there were a lot of people when we visited.

Overall, DRT is a nice place to visit for a day trip if you want to experience the lush greenery of nature.  It is easily accessible by car or motorbike. If you plan a visit, please do wear sunscreen and bring your bottle of water. 😉
